Roccapesta 2011 Reserve
Roccapesta Reserve is the maturing of vintage Roccapesta. The same base is aged for a longer period. At bottling the Roccapesta, we choose the wine from the barrels most suited to lengthy ageing and we let it mature for a further 12 months in the cellar, resulting in a mature and balanced wine.
Ruby colour tending towards garnet. The bouquet combines a sense of ripe flowers with a jelly of red fruits and aromatic herbs, layers of sweet spices, tones of wild fruits and Mediterranean maquis. The structure and tannin focus on the palate. It has a great, balanced roundness with soft tannins and adequate freshness. A lengthy floral finish.
Mild autumn and little rain. Winter with cold temperatures and little rain. Only a light snowfall in February. Mild spring with average temperatures around 15-18° C. Early start of summer with temperatures in the norm and an almost total absence of rain from mid-May to late October. In early September, a light rain refreshed the land helping the plants to finish ripening. Grapes rich in flavour and with the right balance of sweetness and acidity were harvested in mid-September. The 2012 harvest proved to be a good one, albeit with very low quantities of grape, with good results by some Sangiovese vineyards, demonstrating how this territory is suited to quality viticulture in difficult vintages.
